Softball Game Preview: Hampton Talbots vs. Beaver Bobcats

The Hampton Talbots will take on the Beaver Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Hampton is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

While Hampton's win against Beaver wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Talbots had just enough and edged out the Bobcats 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Talbots have posted since April 15, 2024.

Marissa Snyder made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, Eden Lawrence was a standout: she scored two runs while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Teresa Fritsch, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Beaver has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hampton, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
