Baseball Recap: San Marino Wins Going Away Against Cerritos

San Marino made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Cerritos, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The San Marino Titans were the clear victor by an 8-1 margin over the Cerritos Dons on Monday. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

JJ Wilson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Jamie Bercaw and Miles Morning did most of the damage at the plate: Bercaw scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Morning scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Bercaw has posted since back in May of 2024. Aldo Cali was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

San Marino was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cerritos only posted a batting average of .208.

The victory made it two in a row for San Marino and bumps their season record up to 8-2. As for Cerritos, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Marino will venture away from home to square off against La Canada at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. San Marino's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so La Canada's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cerritos, they will head out on the road to challenge Mayfair at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
