Xavier Prep extended their losing streak to ten on Monday, dropping them down to 1-15. They came up short against the Shadow Hills Knights, falling 13-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-1 back in March.
Cam Burke was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Will Kreizenbeck, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for Shadow Hills, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games.
On Shadow Hills' side, Nick Rodriquez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Rodriquez has posted since back in February. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alex Arizaga, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Cole Meka was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Xavier Prep will take on rival Palm Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Shadow Hills is set to challenge their familiar foe Palm Desert at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Knights 3.3, the Aztecs 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
