Wabash River recap October 22, 2013

North Vermillion added to the longest winning streak in Wabash River this week by beating Seeger, 51-6. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.

Covington was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from eighth to sixth in the league. The Trojans vanquished Riverton Parke 48-12 earlier in the week.

Johnny Myers provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Panthers fell to Covington. He completed 12 passes for 194 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 88 yards. Myers' key target this week was Michael Lowe, who caught 3 passes for 67 yards.

Jacob Earl was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 9 carries, he ran for 193 yards as North Vermillion lost to Travis Brown's team. Teammate Brayden Woodard added to the ground attack by rushing for 79 yards.

On the heels of Woodard and Earl, Brian Crabtree's team has had great success on offense. Woodard leads the league in passing with 1,030 yards, while Earl has rushed for 1,412 yards this season. Jason Wilburn's team's Lowe leads the league in receiving yards with 569 on 31 catches.

The Falcons' Woodard needs only 85 yards against Rockville next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 76 carries Woodard has accumulated 915 yard this year.

One of Wabash River's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when North Vermillion and the Rox face off next week.

Next week's game between the Falcons and Rockville will feature an aerial matchup as Woodard tests his arm against Ben Eads's defensive ability.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Herb King's team takes on North Vermillion. The Rox are in third place, while the Falcons are in first place.

There should be lots of points scored when Rockville and North Vermillion face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Rox comes in having scored 298 this season, while the Falcons have scored 462. Rockville scored 27 points last week as it fell to Fountain Central.
