Recap: Palm Beach Lakes Rams vs. Mainland Buccaneers
The Palm Beach Lakes Rams won against the Mainland Buccaneers last Friday with 65 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Wednesday. Palm Beach Lakes came out on top against Mainland by a score of 65-52. The win was all the more spectacular given Palm Beach Lakes' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Mainland is ranked 23rd).
Mainland lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Narayan Thomas, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Thomas set a new season high mark in blocks with three. Another player making a difference was DeAndre Newland, who scored ten points.
The victory (which was Palm Beach Lakes' third in a row) raised their record to 6-2. As for Mainland, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-2.
Palm Beach Lakes won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th. Mainland will finish 2023 at home by hosting Wolfson at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Wolfson is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
