Basketball Preview: Galena Pirates vs. South Beloit Sobos

Galena has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the South Beloit Sobos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Saturday, Galena got the win against the Broncos by a conclusive 72-51.

Galena got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Connor Glasgow out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Keonigs, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Meanwhile, South Beloit can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Saturday. They put the hurt on Marengo with a sharp 71-47 win. The victory was familiar territory for South Beloit who now have five in a row.

Galena's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-10. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.1 points per game. As for South Beloit, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Galena couldn't quite finish off the Sobos when the teams last played back in December of 2023 and fell 47-44. Can Galena avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
