Basketball Recap: Swainsboro Tigers vs. Statesboro Blue Devils
Swainsboro won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Saturday. They were outmatched by the Statesboro Blue Devils and fell 88-55. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now lost six in a row.
Ja'Caiden Cone was his usual excellent self, going 6 of 12 en route to 23 points along with six assists and five steals for Statesboro. That's the most assists Cone has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Mikell, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards.
Swainsboro's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Statesboro, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 12-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Swainsboro will host Toombs County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Statesboro, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against South Effingham at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Statesboro's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matchups.
