Preview: Pinewood Prep Panthers vs. Palmetto Christian Academy
The Pinewood Prep Panthers will stay at home for another game and welcome Palmetto Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. Pinewood Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 200th, while Palmetto Christian Academy is ranked 81st).
Pinewood Prep suffered their biggest defeat since November 30, 2023 on Monday. They were beaten by Ashley Ridge 54-23. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Pinewood Prep has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Palmetto Christian Academy put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Saturday. Everything went their way against Pee Dee Academy as Palmetto Christian Academy made off with a 49-24 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Palmetto Christian Academy has posted since November 28, 2023.
Palmetto Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cokey Suddeth, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Suddeth has scored at least a third of Palmetto Christian Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Adelaide Suddeth, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Pinewood Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Palmetto Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Pinewood Prep lost to Palmetto Christian Academy at home by a decisive 52-33 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Pinewood Prep avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
