The Damonte Ranch Mustangs will take on the Lowry Buckaroos at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Saturday, Damonte Ranch got the win against Reno by a conclusive 14-2. With that win, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Jocelyn Pimentel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (three). She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Damonte Ranch got a massive performance out of Olivia Mares, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Mares a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Savanna Esqueda, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Damonte Ranch hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in eight consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Lowry has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.39 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-12 victory over Spring Creek. The Buckaroos haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Adalyn Entwistle was a standout: she scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalya Guizar, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Lowry pushed their record up to 18-5 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Damonte Ranch, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-10 record this season.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Damonte Ranch hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .344. However, it's not like Lowry struggles in that department as they've averaged .396. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
