Football Recap: Hooper Academy Comes Up Short

Hooper Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 24-21 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sparta Academy Warriors. If the Colts were looking for revenge after losing 34-20 to the Warriors when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Hooper Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Sparta Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hooper Academy will head out to face off against Crenshaw Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sparta Academy, they will square off against Wilcox Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' defense has only allowed 11.2 points per game this season, so the Warriors' offense will have their work cut out for them.
