Football Recap: Delran Bears vs. Haddon Heights Garnets
Delran won the last time they faced Haddon Heights and things went their way on Saturday too. The Bears enjoyed a cozy 38-21 win over the Garnets. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 67th, while the Garnets are ranked 223rd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Vinny Sacca had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 108 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven carries, while also throwing for 150 yards on only 12 passes. A healthy portion of Sacca's aerial production (117 yards to be exact) went to Justin Mary.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Delran was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 285 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Delran's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Giovanni Marshall-Edwards, Joel Grimshaw, and Sam DaSilva, who each picked up one sack apiece. Delran got some further help from Jack Jordan: he made 14 total tackles (5.0 for loss).

The victory (which was Delran's third in a row) raised their record to 7-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.0 points over those games. As for Haddon Heights, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.
