Softball Recap: Delone Catholic Comes Up Short

Delone Catholic lost against Eastern York back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Squires fell just short of the Golden Knights by a score of 7-6. The Squires' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Teagan Funkhouser made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Ella Staub was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Delone Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Eastern York, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Delone Catholic will host Littlestown at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Squires' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Thunderbolts have averaged an impressive 11 runs per game this season. As for Eastern York, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Susquehannock at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Golden Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
