Volleyball Game Preview: Academy at the Lakes Wildcats vs. Classical Prep Lions

The Academy at the Lakes Wildcats will face off against the Classical Prep Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Academy at the Lakes is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They blew past Oasis Christian 3-0.

The final score came out to 25-14, 25-5, 25-16.

Academy at the Lakes can attribute much of their success to Abigail Warnock, who had ten assists and three aces, and Sofia Bettini, who hit 55.6% for six kills and 15 aces and one assist. Bettini is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last seven games she's played.

They weren't the only good servers: Academy at the Lakes was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 20 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 14 consecutive matches.

Classical Prep not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since September 11th (when they won 3-0). Everything went their way against Roosevelt Academy as they made off with a 3-0 win.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Classical Prep took every set by at least 17 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-3, 25-7, 25-8.

Academy at the Lakes now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Classical Prep, their record now sits at 13-10.

Academy at the Lakes came up short against Classical Prep in their previous meeting back in August of 2024, falling 3-1. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
