Basketball Game Preview: St. Joseph Flyers vs. St. Joseph Academy Bloodhounds

St. Joseph is 0-10 against St. Joseph Academy since January of 2021 but things could change on Saturday. The Flyers will head out on the road to square off against the Bloodhounds at 1:00 p.m.

St. Joseph lost 65-39 to Saint Mary's Hall on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Flyers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 751st, while the Barons are ranked 321st).

Meanwhile, St. Joseph Academy entered their tilt with Providence Catholic on Tuesday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They claimed a resounding 58-26 victory over the Provets. The Bloodhounds have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

St. Joseph's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for St. Joseph Academy, their win bumped their record up to 18-4.

St. Joseph suffered a grim 48-28 defeat to St. Joseph Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2025. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Bloodhounds' Seanah Mireles, who posted 14 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Now that the Flyers know the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
