Volleyball Game Preview: Murphy Bulldogs vs. Cornerstone Charter Cardinals

The Murphy Bulldogs are taking a road trip to face off against the Cornerstone Charter Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Murphy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Elkin 3-2.

Murphy was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (100-97), but they still managed to win. The final score came out to 25-21, 18-25, 25-16, 14-25, 15-13.

Meanwhile, Cornerstone Charter entered their tilt with Leadership Academy on Wednesday with 16 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 17. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Falcons.

Murphy better focus on containing Emery Jones and Aubrey Kimball as the pair were huge in Cornerstone Charter's win. Jones had ten digs and four aces, while Kimball had 13 digs and four assists. What's more, Jones posted three assists, the most she's had since back in August.

Cornerstone Charter was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 37 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Cornerstone Charter's win bumped their record up to 23-4. As for Murphy, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
