Basketball Recap: Memorial Day Falls to the Habersham School in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Memorial Day unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 52-36 bruising from The Habersham School Patriots on Tuesday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it 12 in a row.

Memorial Day's loss came despite strong showings from Taurion Halloway and Lake Mills. Halloway posted 14 points, while Mills earned 12 points.

The Habersham School got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyler Shippy out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. Shippy has also also been stellar as far as field goal percentage is concerned: he's posted one of at least 56% every time he's hit the court this season. Another player making a difference was Landon Essenburg, who went 5-for-9 on his way to 12 points.

The win was the third in a row for The Habersham School, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Memorial Day didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 70-60 loss against Bible Baptist Christian on the 6th. As for The Habersham School, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 71-43 victory against Savannah Athletic Association on the 6th.
