League recap: Springside Chestnut Hill Academy scores huge upset over Haverford School

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, who took down 172nd ranked Haverford School, 24-21.

Malvern Prep was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fifth to third in Inter-Academic. Earlier in the week, the Friars triumphed over Germantown Academy 46-21.

Episcopal Academy's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ryan Whayland threw for 122 and 1 touchdown and Evan Butts had 102 yards receiving. On the ground Anthony Feliziani chipped in 114 yards. Cody Russell helped Episcopal Academy's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 16 yards.

Butts was the best wideout in the league this week as the Churchmen beat William Penn Charter. Butts tallied 5 receptions for 102 yards. Russell helped Episcopal Academy's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 16 yards.

Episcopal Academy's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Churchmen feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Whayland has thrown for 1,487 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Butts has 32 catches for 663 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Episcopal Academy takes on second place Springside Chestnut Hill Academy.

The Blue Devils scaled the state rankings by moving to 202 from 240 this week, the biggest jump in Inter-Academic. Springside Chestnut Hill Academy climbed the ranks as a result of beating the Fords 24-21.
