Baseball Game Preview: Washington Hatchets vs. Gibson Southern Titans

The Washington Hatchets will face off against the Gibson Southern Titans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Washington has given up an average of 6.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Washington is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Silver Creek just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost 21-2 to the Dragons. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Hatchets couldn't push the score so high this time.

Washington saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Santiago Lopez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Gibson Southern posted their closest win since April 10th on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past North Central 4-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Titans.

Cam Truxal tossed a big game, pitching 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Gibson Southern let Collin Higginbotham and Seth Parsons run wild. Higginbotham got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI, while Parsons went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Washington's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Gibson Southern, their win bumped their record up to 17-5.
