Basketball Recap: Savannah Takes a Loss

On Saturday, the Savannah Bluejackets were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 45-39 to the Savannah Athletic Association Jaguars. The loss was the Bluejackets' first of the season.

Leading Savannah Athletic Association to victory were Chloe McNew and Natalie Santos. McNew dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds, while Santos posted 19 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which McNew has scored at least a third of Savannah Athletic Association's points. Another player making a difference was Emily Burgos, who had two points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Savannah fell to 2-1. As for Savannah Athletic Association, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Savannah didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-29 loss against Screven County on the 10th. As for Savannah Athletic Association, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 47-15 victory against Beaufort Academy on the 9th.
