Softball Recap: New Holstein's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

Brillion hit New Holstein with a four-run fifth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Huskies took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. The Huskies were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lions earlier this season, when they won 4-3.

Makayla Meyer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, New Holstein saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kourtney Karls, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was Jenna Horn, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

New Holstein's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-7. As for Brillion, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-3.

Coming up, New Holstein will venture away from home to challenge Lomira at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Brillion, they will host Reedsville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.19 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of.
