Basketball Recap: Horizon Honors Takes a Loss

Horizon Honors was the 26-18 winner over Glendale Prep Academy when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Horizon Honors Eagles fell to the Glendale Prep Academy Griffins 40-35. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Horizon Honors lost on Thursday, don't look at Audriana Anglada. Despite the final result, she went 7 for 13 on her way to 20 points in addition to eight boards and six steals. That was a full 57.1% of Horizon Honors' points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alicia Londono, who put up seven points.

Even though they lost, Horizon Honors smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glendale Prep Academy only pulled down two offensive boards.

Senna Smith was her usual excellent self, going 8 of 14 on her way to 24 points in addition to seven boards and three steals for Glendale Prep Academy. Those 24 points gave Smith a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Pettingill, who had six points and four steals.

Horizon Honors' loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Glendale Prep Academy, they moved to 3-4 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Horizon Honors didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-11 win against Odyssey Institute on the 3rd. As for Glendale Prep Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 42-28 defeat against Payson on the 3rd.
