Baseball Recap: Port Jervis Takes a Loss

Port Jervis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 10-4 to North Rockland.

Rudy Schouten was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Schouten was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That run was his first of the season.

Schouten wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kevin Mesnick, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Mesnick has hit this season. Another was Elijah Campbell, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Port Jervis now has a losing record of 3-4. As for North Rockland, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Port Jervis will host Chester at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for North Rockland, they will welcome Suffern at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
