Basketball Recap: DSST: Cedar Falcons vs. Aurora West College Prep Academy Spartans

The DSST: Cedar Falcons were handed a three-point defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Aurora West College Prep Academy Spartans on Wednesday. DSST: Cedar took their match at home with ease, bagging a 64-15 victory over the Spartans. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-4.

DSST: Cedar found their leader in underclassman Amaya Paul, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Paul is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Camira Whitney was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Despite the loss, Aurora West College Prep Academy saw an underclassman step up: Naveah Flores scored nine points along with five steals. That was a full 60% of Aurora West College Prep Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

DSST: Cedar has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for Aurora West College Prep Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-17.

DSST: Cedar will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Rams at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Soroco focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Tuesday. As for Aurora West College Prep Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against the Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mile High Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Spartans in Colorado (the Mustangs are ranked 162nd, while the Spartans are ranked 329th).
