MaxPreps/USA Football Players of the Week for October 17-23, 2016

Week 10 MaxPreps and USA Football Players of the Week winners have been announced.

The USA Football/MaxPreps Regional High School Football Players of the Week honors eight top high school football performers each week throughout the United States.

Selected by USA Football, players are chosen based upon statistics that are submitted to MaxPreps. Each winner receives a certificate and a letterman patch to showcase the honor.

The USA Football/MaxPreps Regional High School Football Players of the Week honors eight top high school football performers each week throughout the United States. Every Tuesday during the football season, 5 nominees from each region will be announced and on Wednesday's the 8 region Player of the Week winners will be selected. To nominate players, coaches or team administrators must enter the athlete's game stats by Monday evening of each week. High school coaches can obtain an access code for their teams by visiting: www.maxpreps.com/cl.

The eight weekly selections for Players of the Week for the week of October 17-23, 2016 are:



Northeast region
RB Mariano Hernandez ('19), Oneonta (Oneonta, N.Y.); 23 carries, 128 yards, 3 rush TD; 168 rec. yards, 2 rec. TD

Mid-Atlantic region
MLB Vinny Catan ('18), Nation Ford (Fort Mill, S.C.); 14 tackles (14 solo) 2 TFL, 2 sack

Southeast region
QB Calvin Turner jr. ('17), New Hampstead (Savannah, Ga.); 16-23, 333 yards, 3 pass TD; 30 carries, 322 rush yards, 5 rush TD

Midwest region
SS Dalton Miller ('20), Great Bend (Great Bend, Kan.); 24 tackles (2 solo, 20 asst.)

Great Lakes region
WR Kolby Canfield ('17), Stockbridge (Stockbridge, Mich.); 19 carries, 232 yards, 4 TD

Southwest region
QB Bryan Ponder ('19), Bells (Bells, Texas) 46-57, 545 yards, 6 TD



West region
