Baseball Recap: Laurel Picks Up Third Straight Win at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against New Castle, Laurel was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They never let the Freedom Area Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Freedom Area's batters probably weren't too happy with Luca Santini, who pitched a no hitter and racked up nine Ks (he gave up three walks). Santini also allowed no hits, which is notable because Laurel is 2-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 2-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Kolton Carlson was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

Laurel pushed their record up to 4-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Freedom Area, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Laurel will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
