Volleyball Recap: Lone Oak's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Lone Oak had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Athens Hornets. That's more bragging rights for the Buffaloes, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Lone Oak got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 28-26, 20-25, 15-8.

Cassidi Williams paced Lone Oak's offense, picking up eight kills. Williams got some help from Lillie Hammond and her 12 assists. Finally, Kaci Baker kept Lone Oak's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Lone Oak's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Athens, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Looking ahead, Lone Oak will take on Cayuga in a tournament on Friday. The Buffaloes are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Athens, they will take on Eustace at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
