Baseball Recap: Destin Comes Up Short

Destin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Franklin County Seahawks. That's two games in a row now that the Sharks have lost by exactly two runs.

Destin saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vance Kirby, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. McCarver Dahlman also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Destin's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Franklin County, they pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Destin will venture away from home to square off against North Bay Haven Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Destin's pitchers better be ready for this one: North Bay Haven Academy has averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Franklin County, they will head out on the road to challenge Liberty County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give Franklin County their first taste of in-conference action this season.
