Softball Game Preview: Westminster Academy Lions vs. Seminole Ridge Hawks

The Westminster Academy Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Seminole Ridge Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Westminster Academy is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Things were looking good for Westminster Academy after they put the first points on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Archbishop McCarthy by a score of 6-5. Lions fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Mavericks since on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Seminole Ridge didn't have quite enough to beat Oxbridge Academy on Wednesday and fell 3-2. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Zarah Lee was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, Seminole Ridge saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Goode, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Westminster Academy's record now sits at 9-9. As for Seminole Ridge, their record is now 4-10.

Westminster Academy skirted past Seminole Ridge 8-7 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
