Football Game Preview: Kemp Yellowjackets vs. Canton Eagles

For the first time this season, Kemp will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. After each having a week off, they and the Canton Eagles will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kemp has given up an average of 43.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Kemp is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. The game between the Yellowjackets and Rice didn't end well, with the Yellowjackets falling 46-27. While the Yellowjackets had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Bulldogs 14-7.

Kemp's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Nathan Dunn, who threw for 274 yards and three touchdowns, and Maddox Henderson, who gained 31 total yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Canton put another one in the bag last Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 61-20 win over Rusk. Fans of Canton have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Canton's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Kemp, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Kemp was dealt a bruising 52-0 loss at the hands of Canton in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
