Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Glastonbury's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Glastonbury won the last time they faced Manchester and things went their way on Friday too. The Guardians' pitchers stepped up to hand the Red Hawks a 7-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Guardians, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Brooke Schlenger and Ryley Handrahan did most of the damage at the plate: Schlenger went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Handrahan got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits Schlenger has posted since back in April.

Glastonbury is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Manchester, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Glastonbury will square off against Windsor at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.63 runs per game on average), something the Guardians will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Manchester, they will take on Simsbury at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
