Soccer Game Preview: Garner vs. Clayton

The Garner Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Clayton Comets at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

Garner lost 5-1 to Sanderson on Friday. While losing is never fun, Garner can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 270th, while Sanderson are ranked 58th).

Garner's goal came courtesy of Lily Ridge, who's now up to four this season.

Meanwhile, Clayton kept a clean sheet against South Garner on Wednesday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Titans.

This is the second loss in a row for Garner and nudges their season record down to 3-7. As for Clayton, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Garner suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to Clayton when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can Garner avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
