Martinsville is 8-2 against Bloomington North since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Artesians will welcome the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. Martinsville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Martinsville got the win against Greenwood by a conclusive 14-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Artesians.
Martinsville got a massive performance out of Ahvay Scholl, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Nacey Dickinson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Martinsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Bloomington North entered their tilt with Terre Haute South Vigo on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Braves by a score of 6-1.
Kendyl Feutz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Feutz was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Feutz wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Keylee Taylor, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Taylor has posted since back in April of 2024. Kinsley Stanley also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Bloomington North pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Martinsville, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Both Martinsville and Bloomington North just can't seem to miss. The Artesians have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Bloomington North struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Martinsville skirted past Bloomington North 5-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Artesians repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
