Football Recap: Evangel Christian Lightning vs. East Central HomeSchool Patriots
On Friday, Evangel Christian faced East Central HomeSchool in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Evangel Christian Lightning simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the East Central HomeSchool Patriots 57-25 at home. The Lightning have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Patriots, too.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Evangel Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kemp Swords, who threw for 208 yards and four touchdowns on perfect 8-for-8 passing, and also rushed for 30 yards. Swords also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up 0.5 sacks, making three total tackles (1.0 for loss), and defending two passes in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown. 126 of those passing yards were hauled in by Ben Davis, who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.
