League recap: Salpointe Catholic extends winning streak with victory over Flowing Wells

Salpointe Catholic extended the longest winning streak in II Section II this week by beating Flowing Wells, 59-0. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.

Sahuaro took down Palo Verde 60-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Laramie Brown threw for 171 yards and two touchdowns in the win.

Kevionte Alexander was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 254 yards on 26 carries as Rincon defeated the Titans. Teammate Andrew Cable added to the ground attack by rushing for 35 yards.

Grono was the best wideout in the league this week as Sahuaro bested Palo Verde. Grono racked up four receptions for 90 yards. Derik Hall helped Sahuaro's passing attack out by catching four balls for 39 yards.

Cienega's Adriell Alvarado and Luke Holley have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading II Section II in both passing and receiving yards. Alvarado has thrown for 1239 yards this season, while Holley, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 41 catches for 597 yards. Alexander from the Rangers leads the league in rushing with 1304 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Rincon takes on Scott Mckee's team. At the moment, Nathaniel Gahn's team is in fourth, while the Cougars are in third.

Marana made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,637 from 6,221. The improvement was the result of 35-7 victory over Vista Grande last week.
