Basketball Game Preview: Beach Bulldogs vs. Screven County Gamecocks

Having just played yesterday, the Beach Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Screven County Gamecocks at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Beach will bounce into Saturday's contest after beating Windsor Forest, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bulldogs walked away with a 66-53 win over the Knights on Friday. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while the Knights are ranked 426th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Screven County). They really took it to Emanuel County Institute for the full four quarters, racking up a 96-63 victory. The Gamecocks haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Beach better keep an eye on Rodney Beckwith. He was instrumental in Screven County's win, shooting 4-for-4 from beyond the arc and almost dropping a double-double with 34 points and nine rebounds. Those 34 points gave Beckwith a new career-high. LeVez Roper was another key player, going 9-for-22 on his way to 25 points.

Screven County was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Beach's record now sits at 5-3. As for Screven County, their record is now 6-1.
