Basketball Recap: Heights' Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Heights had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Washburn Rural Blues on Wednesday as the Heights Falcons made off with a 64-44 victory. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 20 points or more this season.

Heights' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jalihn Timmons led the charge by going 8-for-13 on his way to 19 points. Timmons is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Chase Robinson, who posted 13 points and seven boards.

Despite the loss, Washburn Rural had strong showings from Amare Jones, who earned 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists, and John Hoytal, who scored ten points. King Leonard was another key player, putting up four points.

The win was the fourth in a row for Heights, bringing their record for this year to 21-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 25.8 points. As for Washburn Rural, the defeat snapped their winning streak at nine games and leaves them with a 18-5 record.

Heights didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-58 loss against Olathe North on the 14th. Washburn Rural does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
