Basketball Recap: Calvary Baptist Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Calvary Baptist couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. The matchup between the Calvary Baptist Cougars and the Elsinore Tigers didn't end well, with the Calvary Baptist Cougars falling 70-54. It was the first time this season that the Cougars let down their fans at home.

Despite the defeat, Calvary Baptist saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Medard Dabire dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Dabire continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Moussa, who posted eight points in addition to three steals and three blocks.

Elsinore's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nasir Bates, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 15 boards. Those 15 rebounds gave Bates a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kamrynn Nathan, who earned 20 points along with five assists and four steals.

Calvary Baptist's loss dropped their record down to 21-9. As for Elsinore, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-10 record this season.

Calvary Baptist does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Elsinore, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-55 victory against Rowland on the 18th.
