Basketball Game Preview: Northwest Vikings vs. St. Cecilia Bluehawks

The Northwest Vikings are taking a road trip to take on the St. Cecilia Bluehawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Northwest has three straight wins, St. Cecilia has 12 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Saturday, Northwest strolled past York with points to spare, taking the game 55-41.

Meanwhile, St. Cecilia played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 74-27 loss at the hands of Lincoln Christian. While losing is never fun, the Bluehawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while the Crusaders are ranked 59th).

Northwest has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points per game. As for St. Cecilia, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.

Northwest barely slipped by St. Cecilia in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 45-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northwest since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
