Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Hanover Central walked away with it. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Kankakee Valley Kougars a 6-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Wildcats have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jillian Deyoung made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sienna Stilley was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. Another player making a difference was Sienna Antkiewicz, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Hanover Central now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Kankakee Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-12.

Hanover Central has already played their next game, a 6-2 win against Lowell on the 30th. Kankakee Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
