Southeast of Saline triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Owen Bailey

Recap: Southeast of Saline Trojans vs. Smoky Valley Vikings

The Southeast of Saline Trojans won the last time they faced the Smoky Valley Vikings, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Southeast of Saline took down Smoky Valley 55-41. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, as Southeast of Saline did.

Owen Bailey was a one-man wrecking crew for Southeast of Saline as he scored 34 points along with 5 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Bailey has scored at least 25% of Southeast of Saline's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gannon Jacobson, who scored 9 points along with 4 steals.

Smoky Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylor Campbell, who scored 20 points along with 5 rebounds. Campbell scored a full 48.8% of Smoky Valley's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ki Blanchat, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 10 rebounds.

The victory got Southeast of Saline back to even at 1-1. As for Smoky Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Southeast of Saline will be playing at home against Beloit at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Smoky Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Concordia at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
