Softball Game Preview: Mingus Marauders vs. Mesquite Wildcats

The Mingus Marauders will venture away from home to take on the Mesquite Wildcats at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Mingus has given up an average of 10.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mingus had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Coconino put an end to it on Friday. The Marauders came up short against the Panthers, falling 13-0. The match marked the first time this year in which the Marauders were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Mesquite came up short against Marcos de Niza on Thursday and fell 6-1. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Padres recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Mesquite saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Penelope Schrader, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run.

Mesquite's loss dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Mingus, they moved to 7-12 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Mingus came out on top in a nail-biter against Mesquite in their previous meeting back in March of 2019, sneaking past 6-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Marauders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
