Basketball Recap: Salem Takes a Loss

If Salem was feeling good fresh off their 75-27 takedown of Christiansburg last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Salem Spartans were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 36-35 to the Patrick Henry Patriots. The match marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Salem lost, don't look at Gabby Crawley. Despite the final result, she posted eight points along with six assists and four steals. Crawley has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Charli Wynn, who earned 11 points.

Salem's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 19-2. As for Patrick Henry, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 15-7 record this season.
