Recap: Laney Buccaneers vs. Apex Friendship Patriots
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Laney Buccaneers walked away with it. They took down Apex Friendship 38-20 on Friday. The win was familiar territory for Laney who now have seven in a row.
Laney's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyjhere Crudup, who rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns. Crudup hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games. Hampton Roderick made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Laney pushed their record up to 10-2 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.2 points per game. As for Apex Friendship, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-3.
Laney will head out on the road to face off against Hoggard at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hoggard has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 457 points over their last ten contests. Apex Friendship does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
