Basketball Recap: Brighton Takes a Loss

Brighton lost against Riverdale Ridge back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Brighton Bulldogs had to suffer through a 96-12 loss at the hands of the Riverdale Ridge Ravens. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while the Ravens are ranked 27th).

Brihanna Crittendon was her usual excellent self, going 14-for-21 en route to 29 points and three steals for Riverdale Ridge. Crittendon's evening made it nine games in a row in which she has scored at least 18 points. Abby Hawkins was another key player, going 5-for-6 to rack up 11 points and four steals.

Brighton has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season. As for Riverdale Ridge, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5.

Coming up, Brighton and Westminster will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Riverdale Ridge, they will challenge Boulder at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Riverdale Ridge's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten contests.
