Softball Game Preview: Pavilion Golden Gophers vs. Caledonia-Mumford Raiders

Pavilion is 2-8 against Caledonia-Mumford since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Golden Gophers will look to defend their home field against the Raiders at 4:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Pavilion turned things around against York on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Golden Knights 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Golden Gophers have posted since May 7, 2024.

Meanwhile, Caledonia-Mumford waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Yellowjackets.

The team relied heavily on Shea Drazkowski, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Briana Lynn, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Caledonia-Mumford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Caledonia-Mumford's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Pavilion, their win bumped their record up to 5-9.
