Basketball Game Preview: Trinity Prep Lions vs. Lanier Christian Academy Lightning

The Trinity Prep Lions will face off against the Lanier Christian Academy Lightning at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Trinity Prep was able to grind out a solid win over Faith Christian Academy, taking the game 49-39.

Meanwhile, Lanier Christian Academy entered their tilt with Killian Hill Christian on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 67-21 victory over the Cougars. The Lightning have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 25 points or more this season.

Lanier Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Nolan Roberts, who went 8 for 15 en route to 20 points and four steals. What's more, Roberts also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Mekhi Barber was another key player, putting up six points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Lanier Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games.

Lanier Christian Academy pushed their record up to 17-4 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.3 points per game. As for Trinity Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 11-9.

Trinity Prep took a serious blow against Lanier Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 101-47. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Trinity Prep was down 55-24.
