It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Smithfield ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the York Falcons 10-9. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Packers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

The victory got Smithfield back to even at 5-5. As for York, they moved to 6-4 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Smithfield will challenge Grafton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Clippers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for York, they will square off against Jamestown at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
