Basketball Game Preview: New Glarus Glarner Knights vs. Belleville Wildcats

The New Glarus Glarner Knights will challenge the Belleville Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: New Glarus has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Belleville will arrive with four straight wins.

Last Thursday, New Glarus was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 48-44 to Marshall.

Meanwhile, Belleville won against Wisconsin Heights on Wednesday with 66 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Belleville claimed a resounding 66-30 victory over Wisconsin Heights. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Vanguards are ranked 264th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Belleville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.1 points per game. As for New Glarus, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

New Glarus was able to grind out a solid win over Belleville in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 74-62. Will New Glarus repeat their success, or does Belleville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
