Berkeley Prep unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Tampa Catholic Crusaders by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Buccaneers of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Berkeley Prep got a good showing from Rivers Kurland, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, Kurland also gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
