Basketball Recap: Forreston Comes Up Short

Forreston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 59-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Newman Central Catholic Comets. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 499th, while the Comets are ranked 75th).

Forreston's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Newman Central Catholic, the win keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.

Forreston will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Dakota at 6:45 p.m. on January 6, 2026. As for Newman Central Catholic, they will challenge Rockford Christian at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
